Website Updates Roundup
Did you know we have an ongoing changelog page here that tracks all of the misc changes we make or add to the website? If you are already an avid reader of the changelog page then you can skip this news post as it’s just a roundup for everyone else!
Track Timeline Commenting
This feature is lifted from soundcloud, when listening to a song you can click the comment icon on the player bar to leave a comment at a specific time. Mentions and Emoji’s also work in it.
The waveform / seek bar will show highlight areas and pop up a toast of the left comment as the song plays over it.
You can view the full feed of comments on a song by clicking the comment icon next to the seek controls.
Track Deep Linking
This allows various systems (notifications, activity feed, certain links) to link and scroll the page directly to the track that is being referenced instead of just dropping you off at the page.
Embedding System
This allows you to click the “Embed” button on either an album, or a track and embed the code snippet into your own website/blog/etc and it will allow your visitors to play the album or track(s) right there on your website.
Guests/Embeds are limited to a lower quality just like guests on the website.
Embeds are tracked and require a logged in account, plus you have to whitelist your website domain in order for the embed to work. This is to prevent embed hotlinking.
This feature is still in progress and is missing a few features one might expect like the ability to set the skin or colors.
Reaction / Emoji System
A system to react / use emoji has been added to the editor and various areas of the website.
On news posts and comments you will see a +emoji button in the bottom right corner this will let you react to the content.
All react emoji’s can also be used as normal emoji in a comment, post, etc.
In the future we will have many “packs” of react emojis available to use, we built the picker after Discords for familiarity.
You do gain profile karma points for reacts.
Profile Comments, Activity Feed, Group Ranking & Formatting, Username Hovercards
Profiles can now accept comments from other users (you can also follow them!)
There are now activity feeds on profiles that will show when they comment, or submit an album, fulfill a request, etc.
All across the website group formatting will now show, an example is my name having an icon and also effect text.
Groups now rank, so your highest group will always show that groups formatting and icon even though you might be in multiple groups.
Now if you hover over a users username you can see quick information about their stats.
Tags & Search Hints
We have added a tags feature to albums there are “System Tags” and “Community” tags, the community can add their own sets of tags as well for searching and grouping. (Like Steam).
Albums that do not have their franchise name in the album title now receive search hints so if its called “Snow Field” but its franchise is “Wuthering Waves” it will show up in both search terms due to the hint.
Improvement to Archive Needs
Now if an album is either missing tracks, or has lower quality tracks than the requested requirement the system will auto-post to the archive needs section of the website and request help from the community to fulfill these missing tracks or replace tracks with a higher quality.
For more notes, and details on each update please read the actual changelog page.
